What is a Raspberry Pi?
The Raspberry Pi is a low cost, credit-card sized computer that plugs into a computer monitor or TV, and uses a standard keyboard and mouse.
The first time I heard about a raspberry pi, the mere thought of a credit-card sized computer just blew my mind. Can you imagine the first time I held it? I walked around with it in my hand for the first day. Why? Well, because I can. And let’s not even talk about the price. $35!!!! Crazy. I know I am kind of late to the game, but I purchased my first raspberry pi and a few SD cards which I am going to use as a development server for a company. Therefore, I have made it my New Year resolution to explore some of the basic business functions for which the raspberry pi can be used. Over the next couple of months, I will be experimenting with different technologies and I will report my successes and my failures.
The first thing that I worked on was an Asterisk PBX box using the raspberry pi. I am not going to go through this install on this post. However, I included the YouTube video that I used to install Asterisk and it was a great help. Thanks to Wayne Hackman.
The only issue I came across was that I had to use Pi Writer 2 instead of Pi Writer because it was not compatible with my OS (Yosemite). Also, I don't think the video was very clear on the size SD card, so I recommend using one 8GB or larger.
